In 1985 the first Food and Wine Festival was held and since then it has been a fixed appointment of the counter-war summer. As of 2022 there are well XXXV editions and only in recent years, in 2020 and 2021, the festival was not held due to the Covid-19 emergency. The latest edition, the first after the suspensions of the health emergency, was that of 2022. Usually the event is held between the end of July and the first days of August, it lasts a week and colors the evenings in the village.
Originally the festival was organized by some counter-war "pioneers", who set up food stands, but the initiative was immediately popular. If in the beginning the offer was mainly gastronomic, in recent years the event has been renewed and changed its look, in line with the times.
In the most recent editions the festival was organized and managed entirely by the volunteers of the Pro Loco di Controguerra. A highly selected entertainment offer has been added to the classic food and wine specialties, with performances by artists and musical groups. Furthermore, during the days of the event, initiatives of a cultural nature are proposed aimed at the rediscovery and enhancement of local history and traditions.
