On an unspecified day in the 1930s, before sunrise, Mrs. Antonia Gentili went to the Riparossa spring to rinse her clothes. The woman ventured out in the dark because the All Saints' Day procession would take place in the morning, which she did not want to miss. At the time, in fact, it was customary to hold processions before noon.
While Antonia was intent on washing clothes, she realized that along the road that led to the cemetery of Colle Fruscione, visible from the clearing of the source, several people were getting off with lighted candles. Quickly she ran to the house of the landlady, Miss Tanai, and got ready for the religious service, but this one, who had just woken up, told her it was too early. Antonia then went to the mother church of San Benedetto, where she met the parish priest, Don Alberto Di Pietro, who explained to her that the procession still had to take place. Antonia was therefore convinced that she had seen the procession of the dead.
