In 2019 the Corsa di San Martino reached its XXXIII edition, a sporting event which, over the years, has come to count thousands of members, so much so that it has become the "most popular foot race in Abruzzo". Today the Corsa di San Martino is organized by the A.V.I.S. Val Vibrata di Controguerra.
The sporting competition is temporarily interrupted due to the Covid-19 emergency, but is generally held on the first Sunday before San Martino day (November 11). Other recreational and gastronomic initiatives are associated with the actual sporting event. The day before the event, the characteristic chestnut party takes place in the streets of the old village, which sees great participation of the people and athletes who have come to Controguerra for the next day's race.
On the day of the event, in addition to the foot race itself, a less demanding race is held for children and teenagers, and a cross-country walk, the Mangialonga, which has thousands of members annually. Along the route, a few kilometers long, you will come across stands that allow you to taste the local delicacies.
