Even today, this Christian recurrence is solemnized with an important mass, in which blessed candles are distributed. Once, however, the distribution lasted a few days: after the celebration, the sacristan and some altar boys went around the countryside, knocking from house to house to ask the families if they needed some candles, in case they were unable to get them mass, or if they had obtained few. In exchange for this service, the peasants donated eggs or small cheeses. The candles taken during the anniversary were jealously kept in every family, since it was everyone's interest to have a certain supply of Cannəlora candles; in fact, numerous prodigies were attributed to them.
