Museum of peasant civilization of Controguerra

The Museum of Peasant Civilization of Controguerra is located in the San Giuseppe district, n. 26, at the Emanuele Rasicci winery and farmhouse, and is managed by the Rasicci family. The structure was built in 1982 on the initiative of Americo Rasicci, with the collaboration of the Centro Servizi Culturali of Nereto. The museum collects numerous pieces, which offer a clear and dynamic insight into peasant life.

Several objects come from the Rasicci family, but there is also a lot of material granted by the farmers and craftsmen of the various villages of the Val Vibrata. In fact, there is no shortage of tools and utensils referable to the world of craftsmanship and ancient trades, such as the blacksmith, the tailor, the carpenter and the shoemaker.

In the Museum there is also a wing dedicated to the hemp production cycle, an activity which in the past was deeply rooted in the territory because it allowed for the autonomous production of ropes, fabrics and blankets.

Also interesting are the tools related to the production of wine (such as the hand press, the crusher and the barrels) and grain (including the plough, the threshing machine, the seeder, etc.), particularly noteworthy is the presence of a cart "large" with "steer" for oxen, made in Controguerra between the 1920s and 1930s by the master wheelwright Giocondi Francesco, still in excellent condition.
The photographic collection of peasant life and pinciare present in the Val Vibrata area is also very beautiful.
