The Controguerra municipal historical archive, now located within the nursery school complex in Via Enrico Fermi, preserves important ancient documents. Until the 1950s, the Archive was housed on the first floor of the Palazzo Comunale in Piazza Garibaldi, then it was moved to the second floor of the Palazzo Scolastico. In the 1990s it was placed in its current destination.
Among the oldest documents it conserves, I recall the ancient cadastre of 1664 - two copies - and some documents of the eighteenth century, including the valuable onciario cadastre of 1749-1754. The bulk of the archival documentation begins, however, in the Napoleonic era. The nineteenth-century documentation is rearranged and inventoried in 188 envelopes and 3753 folders. That of the first half of the twentieth century, however, is only partially rearranged and collected in 276 envelopes, divided only by category and with files that lack indexing.
