In the Controguerra countryside some ancient paths are still passable, some of which were once used as "main roads". This is the case of the Via Reale (or Raiale), a road that connected Controguerra to Nereto. Since, ideally, this road pointed in the direction of Naples, which at the time was the viceregal capital, it was given the name of Via Reale. A small stretch, which has come down to the present day, is located in Via Giardino and enters the South Ring Road; the longest stretch still viable, however, takes you into the Pazzano district, descends to Lake Crescenzi and then runs alongside the San Giovanni valley, coming out in the San Savino di Nereto district. It is a very suggestive route, surrounded by nature, among centuries-old oaks, olive groves and vineyards.
