The Teramo area is a combination of beautiful seaside towns and ancient mountain villages that tell a past story through their walls, relics and churches. A little less than half an hour from Controguerra, we find the ancient village of Mosciano Sant'Angelo, in whose historic center the remains of the walls of ancient fortifications from the Middle Ages are still preserved. Wandering through the streets of the village and admiring the palaces and churches that were built in the 1500s makes those who visit Mosciano relive those distant and evocative eras in which they were built and make it the perfect village for lovers of relaxation and culture. The Cardelli Tower and the Marini Tower together with the town hall are real jewels to visit for those who want to know the real historical evidence of this ancient village.
Continuing along our journey through the history of ancient villages, we go to Atri, an Abruzzo village on the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy and considered one of the oldest towns in Abruzzo.
Rich in splendid monuments, within its walls it is possible to admire the Cathedral of the Assumption, dating back to the XIII and XIV centuries and considered one of the best examples of Abruzzo architecture, numerous noble palaces such as the Palazzo dei Duchi Acquaviva, known as Palazzo Ducale . The remains of the Roman Theater and the Municipal Theater are also very interesting, which together with the numerous museums tell the story of a distant era. Another very important stop to visit if you go to Atri is the Calanchi D'Atri guided nature reserve, a protected natural area of about 380 hectares, in which it is possible to admire a great variety of plant and animal species such as the rare toad emerald.
